SUMMARY:Greener Leith AGM 2010
DESCRIPTION:The 2010 Greener Leith AGM will take place on the 14th of 
 September at 7.30pm in the Leith Community Centre.\n\nAt the meeting w
 e will give an overview of what we have achieved over the year, and wh
 at we propose to do in the following year.\n\nGreener Leith is a membe
 rship organisation, so after the formal business of the AGM we intend 
 to run a short informal session that will seek feedback from the membe
 rship on questions such as:\n\nWhat should Greener Leith do more of in
  the future?\nWhat should Greener Leith stop doing?\nWhat should Green
 er Leith do differently?\nAre there any specific issues you would like
  to see Greener Leith tackle?\n\nThe formal business of the AGM will l
 argely be comprised of three items. Firstly, there will be a report fr
 om myself, the Chair. There will then be a report from the Treasurer, 
 Rob Connor. Then we must establish who will be on the board for the ne
 xt year. I feel it is important to explain how we propose to proceed t
 o elect our board for the next year in advance.\n\nThere are currently
  seven people on the Greener Leith board, they are all Directors and a
 re ultimately responsible for the way Greener Leith is run. The seven 
 board members are:\n\nCharlotte Encombe (Chair)\nEllie Mills (Secretar
 y)\nRob Connor (Treasurer)\nKeith Simpson\nNeill Hope\nChas Booth\nGer
 ri Smyth\n\nAt the AGM the following Directors are resigning from the 
 board, either because they have indicated that they wish to do so, or 
 because our Memorandum and Articles of Association requires it:\n\nRob
  Connor\nEllie Mills\nGerri Smyth\nKeith Simpson\n\nIn addition, Julia
 n Sian resigned from the board during the year.\n\nOf the those listed
  above, the following Directors have indicated that they wish to serve
  for another year on the board:\n\nRob Connor\nEllie Mills\nKeith Simp
 son\n\nAt the AGM it is proposed to take one vote from amongst the mem
 bers to re-approve all three Directors who wish to continue to serve o
 n the board for another year. If a simple majority of people approve t
 his proposal then all three Directors shall be confirmed as Directors 
 for the next year.\n\nIf however, there is not majority support for th
 is proposal, we will have a secret ballot for each of the Directors wh
 o wish to stand again. In addition, if any other member wishes to stan
 d for election to the board, they will also be added to the ballot pap
 er at this stage. At present, we are not aware of any other member who
  is keen to join the board. The three candidates with the most votes w
 ill join the Greener Leith board.\n\nThe current board proposes to re-
 elect a maximum of three board members at the AGM, to give six Directo
 rs in total. Our Memorandum and Articles of Association permit a maxim
 um of seven Directors and a minimum of four. We propose to leave the s
 eventh place unfilled at the AGM, in order that the board has the flex
 ibility to appoint someone with specific, specialist skills, should it
  be required at a later date.\n\nNon members are welcome to attend the
  meeting, but only members are entitled to vote and stand for election
  to the board. Whilst we will ensure that people will be able to join
