Hi Everyone,
This little bit of legislation may help to stop developers from building unnecessecarily tall buildings when they feel like it, as may be the case for the Leith Docks Urban Villages (planning application ref: 08/04232/FUL) for which Greener Leith will attend a hearing on the 23rd of June.
The current guidelines were adopted in 1999.
This is the draft document we would like you to look at
:
Greener Leith's suggested response is as follows:
Greener Leith welcomes the revision of the current guidelines, particularly where it concerns putting restrictions on the height of buildings where they may have an adverse visual impact on important views of landmark buildings, the historic skyline, landscape features in the urban area or the landscape setting of the city, including the Firth of Forth.
Greener Leith also strongly supports the view that development throughout much of the city has the potential to impact adversely on views of the city centre skyline and that the harmony of the built environment needs to be protected from new buildings that are conspicuously taller than those next to them.
Greener Leith also strongly supports the decision for strategic views across the city to be defined and protected through the Protection of Key Views guideline.
There is a survey option attached to the above link that you can use to submit comments.
Thanks, Charlotte
